Terms of Service
Effective Date: February 1, 2026
Welcome to Lutheran Services in Iowa Global Greens Community Supported Agriculture. We are a nonprofit, mission-driven Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program assisting refugee and immigrant farmers through a statewide partnership of the ELCA churches in Iowa, community organizations, and individuals. By purchasing a subscription or produce share through our website, you agree to the following Terms of Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By purchasing a share of our CSA program, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Nature of a CSA Subscription
A CSA subscription represents your participation in and support of a seasonal farming program, operated for the benefit of beginning farmers in a new land.
- Your purchase is a share of the harvest, not a purchase of specific items.
- Produce variety, quantity, and availability naturally vary due to weather, seasonality, and farm conditions.
- Members share in both the benefits and risks of agricultural production.
- Members understand that new farmers are still learning, and some produce items would not be accepted in a grocery store or other retail environment.
3. Billing
- Subscriptions are due in full unless otherwise stated.
- Subscription periods and pricing are described at the time of purchase.
- We reserve the right to modify pricing or subscription structures for future seasons.
4. Pickup Locations & Member Responsibilities
Our program operates through multiple community pickup sites hosted by partner churches and organizations.
Members agree to:
- Select a pickup site from available options.
- Retrieve their produce during designated pickup windows.
- Assume responsibility for the share once the pickup window has ended.
Unclaimed shares:
- May be donated, redistributed, or forfeited.
- Are not eligible for refunds or credits.
We are not responsible for product quality after the pickup period.
5. Changes to Pickup Sites
Pickup sites are provided through community partnerships.
- Locations, schedules, or hosts may change when necessary.
- Reasonable notice will be provided whenever possible.
- Changes do not qualify for refunds.
- Shareholders may change their pickup site, with 7 days notice.
6. Refunds, Credits & Cancellations
CSA programs operate on seasonal planning and require significant upfront investment. As a result:
- Payments are generally non-refundable.
- Refunds or credits may be issued at our discretion in exceptional circumstances. Refunds will be prorated to future deliveries, minus 30%.
- Missed pickups are not refundable.
7. Product Variability & Substitutions
Members understand that:
- Agricultural products are inherently variable.
- Items may be substituted without notice.
- Cosmetic imperfections typical of fresh produce do not constitute defects.
- All shares will be of equal value, but may not all contain identical items.
8. Food Safety & Handling
We are certified safe produce handlers by the Produce Safety Alliance, in partnership with Iowa State University Extension Service that meets USDA training requirements (21CFR Part1112.22(c)) in the Food Modernization Act Standards for Growing, Harvesting, Packing and Holding Produce for Human Consumption. We strive to follow safe growing and handling practices. Members agree to:
- Properly store and refrigerate produce.
- Wash produce prior to consumption.
- Recognize the inherent risks associated with raw agricultural products.
9. Allergies & Dietary Considerations
We cannot guarantee the absence of allergens or cross-contact. Members are responsible for determining suitability for their dietary needs.
10. Nonprofit & Mission-Driven Structure
Lutheran Services in Iowa Global Greens Community Supported Agriculture operates as a nonprofit initiative supporting refugee and immigrant farmers.
- Participation supports farmer livelihoods and community programming.
- Purchases should be understood as supporting the program’s mission as well as receiving produce.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Iowa law:
- Liability is limited to the amount paid for the subscription.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- We are not responsible for losses caused by events beyond our control, including weather, crop failure, or logistical disruptions.
12. Indemnification
You agree to hold harmless Lutheran Services in Iowa Global Greens Community Supported Agriculture, participating farmers, partner organizations, churches, staff, and volunteers from claims arising from misuse, improper handling, or violation of these Terms.
13. Privacy
Personal information collected through our website is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of revisions.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa and founded in the transformative love of God.
Each order you place is a legally enforceable contract. If you fail to pickup your order, you will not be refunded.
